Thoughts from Sunday March 12th:

1) Nice call on Race of the Week. Balance ran a real nice race and clearly was best 8-5 looked good.

2) Rockport Harbor in the Razorback was a clear bet against. He was stuck at the 3.5 fig and the winner Purim had better figs in 3 out of his last 4 plus was coming off a -0.5 and won going away. Played the exacta with the 1 and 2 horse.

It is nice when the figs are working and the sheetplayer is reading and wagering correctly. Definitely not easy to get all three going - money management, reading the sheets correctly and the sheets doing their job and getting the figs right.

3) What has happened to our sport. It is obvious to many of us that milkshakes are more and more prevelant today than just a few years ago. Racetracks are turning their heads to this sad turn in affairs. Some of these high percentage trainers that have been documented numerous times at Thorograph have made it harder and harder for us players to handicap. CHEATERS! And, what about the condition of the horse. I recently purchased my first horse a NY Bred 2Yo privately from a trainer who breaks and trains yearlings and 2 year olds. She mentioned many horses that she has received from some of these suspected CHEATERS and how poorly the health of these horses were in. It is ashamed. Plus, even when a CHEATER gets caught (DUTROW, COLE NORMAN, etc.) they are just slapped on the wrist.

HOW LONG IS OUR INDUSTRY GOING TO TURN THEIR BACKS ON THE MILKSHAKE EPIDEMIC?

Are some of these trainers really that much better than JERKINS, MCANALLY, MANDELLA. Winning at 25% versus 15%?

Thanks for letting me vent.

4) Also, Jerry Hollendorfer looks like he has a nice Maria Mon 2YO Colt who won Saturday at Golden Gate Fields in a really nice time coming from way out of the clouds. With no one really putting themselves ahead of the pack, might be intersting to look out. Yes, Jerry is also a 25% winning trainer, who has done it the old fashioned way, hard work and good organization. Should i also suspect him? Who knows anymore?
