SnS ran very hard pressuring Like Now. Anyone doubting that need only look at the fractions of the "Donald Schaefer", which was the previous race. In the Preakness they motored. Like Now's ultimate finish tends to shed some light upon the degree of the pace, though he didn't figure to finish on top in any event.
SnS ran a superior race and after Bernardini cleared, which Bernardini figured to do on the fractions, but after clearing the margin didn't appear to increase. SnS was still running. SnS caught bad breaks in the Derby, both trouble and path and he was also coming off a very fast Illinois Derby. Don't think the Preakness was his best effort. In order words he was working back and he grabbed a quarter doing it and will miss the Belmont. He's still a load and stands to turn the tables on Bernardini next meeting.
Kent rode poorly. It was all horse.
