Anybody look at the Epsom Derby today?
Can you say, after all these years, Northern Dancer?
Of the 18 entries, 5 are sons of Sadler's Wells, by ND. 3 are sons of Montjeu, himself by Sadlers Wells. 2 are by Danehill, son of Danzig, son of ND. Galileo, another son of Sadler's Wells, has one runner in the race.
Aidan Obrien's Horatio Nelson, by Danehill out of a Sadler's Wells mare in a mating that would make NASCAR fans happy, looked to have been the fastest of these as a 2YO, but has never been asked to go further than a mile. Currently between 3-4/1 offshore
English bred, French raced Visindar has been dominant in 3 lifetime starts for Fabre/Soumillon. Favored offshore.
Another Obrien trainee, Septimus (Sadler's Wells), earned the highest Timeform # in the race in his last start, a victory in the 1 1/4 mile Dante Stakes, run 2 weeks ago. About 8/1 offshore.
Any ideas?
