rich said it right but if you are playing a p-3 ( to cope w/ short prices ) you might throw her in there as insurance ... if your playing the one track , value in dd's + p-3/4's can be found becouse it does get chalky ( at times ) in california and short fields . last week i saw where the best shot on the card to get 20-1 was a dd , if you see 3 favs in consecutive races that look much the best and are too short for a win bet , a p -3 / dd makes sense if the plays are small in combinations , of course passing altogether is another option . though i haven't seen the rest of the card yet , i'm probably going to let that race go - it's a tough one and i don't want to force the issue too much .
