There really is only one way to bet in this game.
Find the vulnerable favorite at even money or less that is tying up the lion's share of the pools and beat him. You have to know when to aim at such a horse and when not to. That takes time. As far as figures go they are indispensible, but there is not enough edge in figures alone to get where you want to be.
They've done a pretty good job of isolating some vulnerable favorites here in the "race of the week", generally doing so upon projecting off efforts after big efforts. Keep your eye upon it they offer it as an example. Picking the winner in those races is the second part of the equation and when you are good enough to know when a low odds horse is not gonna fire, a.k.a. Lost in the Fog in the Breeders Cup, etc, you'll probably understand enough to figure who the heir apparent is.
still its a tough game and proficiency will not come overnight, if it ever comes. Don't spend the rent money, you're gonna lose for some time before essential lessons are learned.
