Steve
I have supported NY Racing year round for quite a while, but this winter the
old track on Gentilly Blvd in the Big Easy will be getting most of my action.
I can not find any reason to be optimistic about anything NYRA is doing right
now, and probably the best thing they could do at this point is cut back to a 4
day, 10 race a day racing week for the winter months.
The Churchill people know how important it will be to re-establish Fair
Grounds after the one year Katrina hiatus, and I feel fairly confident that they
will produce a simulcast product which will rival those originating in Florida
and California.
Bankruptcy or no Bankruptcy, NY Racing is at a crossroads and the people and
organizations entrusted with its well being have some very hard choices to make
and some rough sledding ahead of them.
