Last spring, Round Pond won an optional claimer at Oaklawn over Miss Elsie and True Tails, then came back to win an epic edition of the Azeri against Happy Ticket. According to Ragozin, Round Pond

a) ran the same figure in both races

b) ran 6 points better in the Azeri

c) won the Azeri despite going back 6 points from her figure in the optional claimer.


You got it. According to Ragozin, Round Pond bounced 6 points and won the Azeri-- meaning if she had paired up the allowance figure, she would have beat Happy Ticket by a dozen lengths that day.
