OTOH, as demonstrated by Josephus, when the crowd doesn't know a horse is first time gelding (or as I like to say, lower blinkers off), the ROI is just grand. It takes a lot of sleuthing to ferret out this information sometimes, e.g. looking at prior race PPs, results, time off, workout gaps, etc, to determine if a horse is likely FTG today. There are races where you can only guess if the horse is FTG today since the info is just not sufficient to say for sure. So, playing by the current rules, good profits are to be had if you do the digging and determine a horse is FTG. Like Josephus, this is an automatic play for me. Another similar category for me is first race after myectomy--can you say Mecke in the 1996 Arlington Million?
