Tony-- not for nuthin' (as they don't say in North Carolina), but I looked at Ragozin's sheets for the Oaks, and holy smokes. The differences in the Derby are relatively subtle (with the exception of certain circuit-to-circuit issues), but in the case of the Oaks, if you took the names off the top, I LITERALLY would not be able to figure out which filly was which. Three examples-- first, we have a 10 (ten) point difference on a New York figure, Autobahn Girl's seven length win, which they have as a 15 (and New York is done by Ragozin).
Another involves the aforementioned Rags to Riches. On Ragozin, her best race-- by a lot-- is her maiden sprint win. They have it two points better than one of her stake wins, and four points better than the other. That means we net out at about 6-8 points different on the sequence (since we have the stake wins 4 1/2 points better). It looks like they are still having the sprint/route problems in California I discussed here a couple of years ago.
The third involves High Heels-- they do NOT have the Fantasy win as a new top.
As I have said before, and I am NOT kidding, at this point the Beyer guys are much better at getting the basics right than the Ragozin guys. They got all these basically right, and they simply don't make the big error, as Ragozin does-- often.
