If you have not had a chance to see this race on video,it is worth a look. KentuckyDerby.com has all the preps on the site.
Great Hunters race was visually the best race of any 3YO.TG has him 4w/3w. His move in the far turn is Monarchos-esque(Florida Derby 01) This is the turn of foot that wins Derby's. It seems that very few, if any of this crop, have that explosive move from off the pace.
The problem is the race is TG slow,a 4. Beyer has it 101,Not factoring in the ground loss? This is within 2 points of Curlins top Beyer and 1 point of several others 102 BSR.
So Beyer has it as one of it's fastest 3yo races without factoring in ground loss.We KNOW GH lost alot of ground. TG has it very slow.
I'm not saying the 4 is wrong BUT if it was, this horse looks completely different. If it was a 2,GH pairs his 2yo top, bounces in the BG and looks quite strong to go forward in the KD.
Can anyone look at the charts from SA 3/3 and tell me what their opinion of that race was? How did you sheet guys see the race. Thanks
