Horsegoer:
Something a little less than due diligence on your part before posing your
"Mott got his hands on something this meet" inquiry:
A) I think Bill Mott at the time of his induction was the youngest trainer ever
admitted to the Racing Hall of Fame;
B) Bill Mott was leading trainer at Saratoga multiple (I think 5) times before
this year;
C) Before setting up shop primarily in NY, Mott had been a leading trainer at
tracks such as Churchill, Arlington, Fair Grounds, Oaklawn, etc (multiple times
at most of these tracks I've mentioned);
D) In a DRF article (maybe Crist) written in 2006, it was pointed out that only
2 trainers who were active for the 20 years between 1986- 2006 maintained a win
percentage over 20%-- Bob Frankel and Bill Mott;
E) Rick Dutrow and Scott Lake routinely serve more suspension time in a year
than Mott has served in his career.
Must be mentioned: This superior HORSEMAN has put up big numbers at the Spa
without a barn full of NY Breds. (All you need to know about the quality of
this years Spa meet is that Gary Contessa, with a barn full of claimers and
NYBs, has saddled over 100 horses).
