...Derrick Davis of Baltimore made the Pick Six bet through a telephone account with Catskill Regional Off-Track Betting Corp., based in Pomona, N.Y. He was the main focus of an investigation by the New York State Racing and Wagering Board until Thursday.
On Wednesday, Mike Francesa of New York radio station WFAN reported Davis also was the alleged winner of two Saratoga Pick Sixes and used the "T" shape bet pattern, singles in the first four races with all horses selected in the last two. The Saratoga Pick Six wagers in question were made Aug. 4, worth $421,998, and Aug. 17, worth $330,389. The bets were placed through New York City OTB. The New York Racing Association, which runs Saratoga, alerted racing officials Sunday night that there might be a problem with the Pick Six. Francesa, who quoted an anonymous source, said the investigation centered on Davis and possibly three accomplices. While this information was unsubstantiated, one piece fell into place Thursday...
