The following was taken from a Daily Racing Form article.


"Vindication, the leading candidate for champion 2-year-old male of 2002, worked five furlongs in 58.40 seconds on Saturday, the first time that jockey Jerry Bailey had been aboard the unbeaten colt.

The time was the fastest of 57 recorded works at the distance. Working in company with stablemate Oration, Vindication started from the rail, ran in company to the eighth pole, and pulled clear to lead by a length.

Friday, trainer Bob Baffert said that Bailey would replace Mike Smith aboard Vindication in upcoming races. Baffert has yet to state where Vindication will make his 3-year-old debut."

Baffert had also indicated there would be a new rider on Composure who I believe Smith was also riding. Must be some kind of falling out.
