The general public still believes in the bounce theory. Is it dead? Not really. Cheap maiden claimers boing, top class horses less likely, especially with certain trainers.

How many decent horses are still around late in their 4yo season let alone being allowed to reach full maturity and race at five? Not too many. Precocious 2yo's often wind up in the infirmary; with the rights for their services sold for millions, 3yo's who've logged graded stakes victories are whisked off to the breeding shed with the slightest injury or fear of such. Perhaps 5 yo's the likes of Left Bank, Behrens, Congaree are the beneficiaries of nutritional advances ;-). Welllll, I like to believe that's the case some of the time.....................

May they all come home safely!
