While I do not understand the Mike Smith comment, all I can say about Frankle choosing the outside is that he knew his horse and given that fact, maybe he thought that EM would bother fewer horses exiting the gate in stall 12 than one closer to the rail. That is a guess and not a fact, and of course, subject to debate.

I will have to review the tape to see if EM actually broke from the 12 hole or from the 11 hole (which he rightfully should have).

Last year, KY made a "new rule" at post time regarding a scratched horse. Came Home should have been moved in one stall to the main gate when Buddah scratched, but they chose to move all the inside horses OUT one stall, thereby leaving Came Home in the A gate with a huge disadvantage. (By the way, he was my top pick, though I saved with War Emb. Came Home did win the PC at 10F which sort of vindicated my opinion regarding his ability to get 10f).

Now please address the lousy payoff on Funny Cide who was 19-1 at post but paid 12.5-1.
