Making a nice late move at nine furlongs while chasing second rate horses on a cardboard track does not qualify this horse for going through real dirt for twelve furlongs at Belmont.
I am afraid that you are in for a big disappointment.
Dynever is a turf horse that goes very nice on the dirt, but he will be going at a faster clip in NYC and will likely flatten out after a mile.
Lucas said it best after the Preakness: it would have been a real embarrassment if the Preakness was the mile and a half race. No matter what you think of this guy he has seen and trained some pretty nice horses and he knows what he was watching last Saturday.
All Tagg has to do is to keep the horse healthy. The real threat will come from whoever has the sharpest prep race in the next ten days.
Bet against him, since that will make the most sense, but don't hold your breath, waiting to beat him.
