Boy, you found a couple of good ones all right (hopefully before the race). The one at Mnr would have been a bet to me at 1/3 the price-- cycling at intervals, and the timing is right.

The Hoo winner could have been an odds play to me, but not because of the short term pattern-- none of his 3 races since the layoff was a top, so you don't really know how to classify the short term pattern. But it took him a couple of races to get to good ones in 2 previous campaigns, the trainer is weak early in campaigns (see layoff and second out stats) but better overall, meaning they get better with racing, and this one had decent numbers before the layoff.

The second finisher would have been a tough use for me-- big circles to a number that hurt before often lead to more pain. But with the price on the winner the exacta should not be relevent-- I seldom use extreme longshots on top if I'm keying them outright. That's why they have win betting.
