Just had to stop by, say hi and bathe in the warm feeling of Bob Frankel's bad day. It was a good day to take a stand against Bobby and Bailey and I loved "Bobby the Mouth's" parting words to the media:
"I don't know what happened, I really can't talk right now"
He's never at a loss for words when things are going his way. Why get tight lipped on the big day?
I didn't bet Funny Cide as much as I like him. I've felt he has never come back from his dull Belmont Stakes effort. But contrary to what Cry Bobby has to say, I do think he's your 3 y.o. champion. I rate the contenders:
Funny Cide - Derby, Preakness
Ten Most Wanted - Travers, Super Derby
Empire Maker - Wood, Belmont
Peace Rules - La.Derby, Bluegrass, Haskell
I consider the Wood essentially a draw and I discount Empire for skipping the Preakness. That was Not a very brave thing to do. Despite Peace Rules poor Mile, he was a good horse and he was in the Preakness field. For me its a no brainer. Two gems of the Triple and a game if over the top showing in the Belmont make Funny the 3 y.o. champion.
