Monkey on his back (1118 Views)

I'm hoping its just coincidence, but it sure seems like Patrick Valenzeula is skipping a drug test because he's not clean. He's had umpteen chances and said he'd stay clean because he just wanted to ride. He's won the last five meets out in California is my understanding. Now I don't know if he kept his promise. Maybe the agent change was a consequence of problems in the background. I really thought racing did the right thing in letting him back in. Valenzeula's had innumerable chances and has just kept tossing them aside. The Monkey must be a helluva rider, though I'm sure he can't hit his weight.

How bout that Maryland farm that bought Our Emblem before he sired a Derby winner also buying Louis Quatorze before Second of June? Talk about making some sound decisions in a speculative business, this guy is on fire. Claiborne might want to consult him. Which is not to say Second of June will ever win another race, nor make another start, though at this point despite his 4.33 D.I. who has run better?
