While the wind won't affect the final time at 1 1/8th at Aqu (once around), it will certainly affect the fractions. In the stretch they were running into a strong 9 o'clock wind (imagine the face of a clock as you are looking down on the track from above, meaning they were running directly into it).
I'm guessing that other figure makers didn't split 1&2 turn races, which created a problem because of how fast Congaree ran. The other 2 turn figure (the Remsen) has held up pretty well.
Michael, I have no problem with you asking these questions. In fact, I encourage it. Are you coming to Vegas for the Expo? Anybody else out there?
