The night time temperature has been in the low 50's, the leaves are starting to change colors, its Labor Day weekend, back to school, back to work and the NFL starts 3 days after the last Spa race.
4 stakes split up on a Saturday card which includes a maiden race that you would never ever see anywhere else in the world. 7 of the 9 entries in today's 2ND race sold as yearlings from 180K to a 1,000,000 and there is a homebred bred to Gone West for 80K. So far this week I've heard the 6 and 9 both can't lose and I haven't been up since Monday!
Bernard Baruch:
Wise Dan gives away a lot of weight in his comeback particularily to Optimizer who gets 11 lbs plus the rail and Five Iron 8 lbs and a trainer who is un fuego at this meet with everything he has brought down from Canada.
The Prioress:
A wide open affair, I'm expecting Stonetastic and Princess Violet to run well at decent prices.
The Forego:
A major dilema as Clearly Now has had 7 weeks since a monster number and has worked extremely well up north since? I'll go with Palace back and forth with 3 price horses Big Business, Falling Sky and Confrontation using Clearly Now in the 3RD and 4Th slots in tri's and supers.
The Woodward:
Moreno doesn't seem to be able to put 2 together and Micromanage and whichever Goldphin runner goes may be able to presuure him enough.Itsmyluckyday gets a 4lbs shift in the weights from the Whitney, ran well after his suspect Monmouth numbers and should sit a perfect rail trip, however not a very inticing price as a clear 2ND choice.
Fast, Firm and a beautiful day, rails set at 0 on both turf courses.
Good luck,
Frank D.
