Tough card to make figs on is my impression. Arguably, there were two quality races on the card. The sprint stakes went in good fractions in 1:23:14 with a 1:09:78 3/4 mark.
1OK claiming fillies ran 7 marks in these fractions:
22.78, 46.34, 1:11.55, 1:25.18
23.70, 46.60, 1:11.12, 1:36.91, 1:49.42
Just above the Bluegrass for comparison, granted 7 races later.
The track was obviously slow for Keeneland, but there were some very cheap looking races from a "Race Conditions" perspective. I'm suspecting the track sped up a bit throughout the day, but I'm not certain in any way of that. The horses, but for the Stakes, may have been that cheap. I didn't handicap this card and I have no real insight into the animals. The fact that TCE overcame a traditional front runner bias here tends to indicate the track was quirky. I really thought Lionheart could pull a Pulpit or Millineum Wind here. I can't say that win was a 111 Beyer. His previous best Beyer was a 101. He could have have picked up that many lengths. If its legit, we are into bounce or dominance considerations for two horses. I think we are gonna have to defer to the T-Graphs here.
