Say the distance is 9 marks.

Do you average all older claiming classes at that distance and come up with one figure which is an average of all classes at 9 marks, i.e. 12,500 NW2L claimers, 100,000 claimers...etc.

or

Do you average respective classes and come up with a whole list of averages at 9 marks?

Assuming its the former, what did you're "checks" reveal in regard to Belmont's 10 and 12 mark races? or Aqueducts 9 mark ones? Were they right in line with the figures "pars" of the shorter races?
