A question about Dosage (928 Views)

All I know about Dosage is that twenty years ago a minority of horses entered in the Kentucky Derby qualified under the Dosage theory while today the vast majority meet do meet the standard.
The question is whether this is because the formula has been so tinkered with that it is now all inclusive, and therefore worthless, or have trainers and breeders recognized there is no point aiming towards the first Saturday in May if the horse can't meet Dosage standards?
As Ray Kerrison pointed out in the New York Post this morning, for all the talk of Smarty Jones' pedigree not being able to handle the distance, he did have a qualifying Dosage number.
