You historically don't win BC races off the layoff, especially NA based grass horses. The Sprint is another story. The Mile when won by a Euro is usually off of 30 days or more. The NA entrant must have run within the last 30 days, otherwise it is a poor bet. The history of these races is loaded with carcasas of layoff horses trying to win the big one. Regardless of how good they look on paper, layoff horses on BC day are poor bets to win the race.
