Agree. Would favor horses that have some speed and pedigree or evidence that they will like the distance. The other stuff is very crop specific (what number it took to win) and/or context specific (improvement from 2 to 3). Agree that you can you use latter to determine if a horse is likely to improve, but the 2 year old top is dependent on when and how it was run, etc…. Also, the idea of rigidly sticking to the top 6 speed figures seems kind of silly. Are you going to toss the 7th fastest horse that is a quarter point slower than the 6th but has an explosive pattern? These types of “rules” are way to rigid and not conducive to winning, in my opinion. That said, if they work for you, have at it. Good luck!
