I completely agree with you that it is too mechanical. But I say this in the spirit of learning this game more and more each year………. Aren’tJerry Brown’s audiovisual seminars each year for Derby and Breeders Cup too mechanical? He gives dozens of stats based on previous runnings of the same races. For instance, the two best patterns for the Derby that have statistically produced the best stats for winning that race are pairing tops in last two races or getting a new top in last race that is 3 points or less from the race two back. Those seminar nuggets have to mean something don’t they???
