When Jack Christopher won the Grade 1 $500K Champagne Stakes on Oct 2 2021 @ BEL he beat three Pletcher trainees 2nd) Commandperformance 3rd) Wit 4th) My Prankster. That is probably a record never done before.
Command Performance ran his eyes out in that race never has really recovered after trying many different horse racing venues he finally broke his maiden @ Mth a couple of weeks ago.
Wit took the winter off came back in NY in April and then tried JC again, this time in the Woody Stevens. Nope!
My Prankster tried JC again on Derby Day in the Pat Day, Nope! To My Prankster's credit, he came back on July 4th weekend and ran a good 2nd to Gunite.
I see TAP has no entry in The Haskell this year.
I'm thinking the key to a reasonable payoff is for either one of the two favorites to run out of the Trifecta. I'm trying to visualize JC ahead by ?? 5 or 6 lengths @ the mile marker can that be made up in the last furlong? By any of these. We just don't know about Taiba but I think we have to assume someone rubbed ointment on him or pissed on his hay.
The simple ticket W/B JC/Taiba - JC/Taiba - White Abarrio - Howling Time & Benevengo. IMO one or the other could beat Cyberknife who is not very competitive when not on or near the pace? e.g. Kentucky Derby (where I bet him)
On the other hand Cyberknife @ 8/1 - 10/1 w/b c/b a nice winner or OK bottom of the exacta. Brad Cox runners are doing well
I so enjoy horse racing. Note - this is a win and you are in the B.C. Classic.
Next - I consider the contrarian approach Jack Christopher doesn't have to win. Maybe, as has been mentioned, he is not good @ the longer distance or multiple turns. Does Jose Ortiz have the experience? Blah Blah Blah.
