Looking at Ed Fountaine's "Derby Dozen" in todays New York Post, the following 3YO Derby prospects will be pointed at the Rebel at Oaklawn on March 18: Private Vow, Lawyer Ron, Keyed Entry and possibly Strong Contender. Private Vow will be making his first start off of a layoff, and the other 3 showed a commitment to the front end in their last races.

Some posters on this board have said that Lawyer Ron was rank during the running of the Southwest. Keyed Entry broke two track records in beating First Samurai in his last race at Gulfstream (his 6 furlong split was faster than the track record). The abundance of early speed in the Rebel might cause John Ward (Strong Contender) to consider the Gotham on Aqueduct's inner tube, also on March 18.

Respect Fountaine's opinion, but don't understand how he still has First Sam at the top of his list...
