Quite a bit of difference actually. It always amazes me that people can draw generalizations upon so many things without scrutiny of the subject matter at hand. You can talk a nation into war that way. Just imagine what that type of broad brush will get you wagering upon horses.

First lets look at the Track Bellamy Road ran upon that April 9th, 2005. It certainly was fast for Bellamy Road. He tied Riva Ridge's 32 year old record. However, it wasn't fast for him alone. In the 7 furlong Carter two horses tied the 6 furlong track record with their interior fractions. The Carter's final time was only a click or two off the track record for 7 furlongs. New York bred Slow Rats went an interior six poles in 1.10 and gasped out in 8 in 1.37 An immature Lost in the Fog went 1.21.1

That track was torrid.

Conversely the only horse that ran a racehorse time on Blue Grass day was Sinister Minister. You could look it up.

Secondly, Bellamy Road was refered to as a horse with a "high cruising speed". What that means is a horse that really wants to run out front. His problem was when he entered the Derby there were a couple he just couldn't outquick and his high cruising speed became a high chasing speed. Thats not good for that type of horse. Now, who think Sinister Minister is a "high cruising speed" horse? Or in other words regardless of what hole he draws will he be disadvantaged like Bellamy Road was?

Lastly, you'll have to guess.

Socratic Method...sheez
