To give this thread some geographical balance, there is Circular Quay, undefeated winner of the Bashford Manor at Churchill and the Hopeful. I seem to remember CQ's dad, Thunder Gulch, winning a stake race at Churchill in the 90s.
Have not read if CQ will be trying Champagne (Bel October 14), but if he is victorious in that G1 event and MISSES the BC Juvie (ie syndication, injury, trying to avoid BC/Derby jinx) he is still probably Eclipse Award winning 2YO male.
For some reason I seem to be obsessing about these situations where runners ENHANCE their Eclipse chances by not contesting the BC (Silver Train).
