"We've beaten him before, and our plan is to gradually build on his campaign to peak on the right day," said Pletcher, who will also send out Meritocracy in the Fountain of Youth. "I think he'll run an improved race Saturday without going over the top, and even though he's never won at a mile and one-eighth, I don't think the distance will be an issue."
Its true. Pletcher has beaten the favorite with Scat Daddy before. Guess Pletcher figures he's the only one building a campaign towards the big day. Good for Todd, hes such a campaigning horseman! You have to wonder, is Todd seriously contemplating enough "horsemanship" in the Fountain of Youth to risk an even bigger suspension?
Todd, I dont know if you or your addicted minions will read this, but be apprised you are being watched like a Hawk watches a field mouse. Go for it!
What Todd the Tuna failed to mention is that although he doesnt think Scat Daddy will have any issue with 9 poles, he hasn't even won at two turns yet and hes breaking from the 8 hole with a very quick run into the first turn. That Champagne looks nice, but NoBiz had trouble and was on the inside part of a deep track that can get very deep near the rail in the fall. Was it deep inside Champagne day?
Thereafter the roles were reveresed and Scat got the best part of Gulfstream at what you would think was his preferred distance, while Nobiz had to bust it from the outside and came up the edging away winner. What to make of that?
Todd the Tuna may be sending Meritocracy to ensure a good pace thinking NoBiz is going to run up front again. Don't count upon it and even if NoBiz runs on the fractions Scat Daddy may be hard pressed to have the best energy in the lane, unless Todd breaks the sauce out he's saving for Churchill. Todd guess what, They got ya there too....lol
