This may be ho hum to those of you with more knowledge of the backstretch than I have, but I found the following paragraphs from Tuesday's San Diego Union-Tribune interesting:
Trainer Michael Machowsky has withdrawn his protest of Friday's $107,200 Real Good Deal Stakes race after initially alleging that at least one other horse besides his own had received impermissible therapeutic medication before the race.
Machowsky's horse, Earnednevergiven, was scratched from the race after it was caught being administered a cough medicine – a rules violation on race day. Machowsky protested Saturday with a letter that stated, “I was required to scratch my horse, while others were allowed to race and earn purse money.”
He said they were allowed to be medicated before the race with Vicks VapoRub and similar medication.
