Michael: The title is a joke that you had better get. Here's a clue: "Property is theft."
You wrote: "OK, I did promise a response last week.... tonight for sure."
I'll let this go. It's too easy.
" I have read "The Communist Manifesto" and "Das Kapital" in their entirety (which is quite a task)
This is hilarious. No one who has read both books would ever write a sentence so preposterous. "The Communist Manifesto" is little more than a pamphlet. It can be read in 20 minutes over a rum and coke. "Das Kapital" is in four volumes comprising 2500 pages. Volumes two, three, and four are read only by professional economists. The exceptions to that rule ARE NOT people who butcher Keynes' most famous line every time they utter it. You, Michael, are a professional butcher of a line every college economics student learns the first day of class.
"as well as a few other books by the utopian twins."
Wrong. Marx and Engels wrote almost nothing about what a communist society would look like. You're confusing them with the utopian socialists: Owen, Fourier, etc.
"I never feel more correct in my views than when I travel through Central Europe, and then come home and read about the theories that made those people go down that awful path."
This is history for simpletons. If Marx caused Stalin, Hayek caused Pinochet and the other Latin American homicidal maniacs.
"(try finding a copy of "Das Kapital" in a Prague bookstore)"
Czech it out from a library.
