More than ever, based on Matt Hegarty's article today. The bottom line is that it appears that the New York State Racing and Wagering Board is as interested in protecting their turf as they are in having this matter resolved as promptly & professionally as possible, which is what the game we love desparately needs right now. Why else would they keep refusing to bring in the FBI, which has a computer fraud division, in favor of doing a probe which essentially consists of asking individuals to "voluntarily" help. Let's get someone in there who has subpoena power, who isn't going to be hampered by limited geographical jurisdiction, who has experts who have some experience in dealing with computer fraud, etc, etc. I suggest that you send your emails demanding that the FBI be invited in now to the following individuals at mailto:info@racing.state.ny.us
Michael J. Hoblock, Jr. Chairman
Cheryl Ritchko-Buley Board Member
Edward J. Martin Exec Director
Robert Feuerstein General Counsel
Tom Casaregola Director of Audits
The sooner the better obviously, and feel free to add a few words about Mr. Groth, who will be the subject of my next post.
