$1 exactas? No question in my mind that they had winter racing in NY BEFORE they had $1 exactas. Also, trifectas (which I recall being introduced as triples and only available on the last race) cost $3, but you could get the price down to $1 if you bought enough combinations in a box or key or wheel.

Also, you had to go to different windows for different bets, so if you had a complicated play, it involved you going to 5 or 6 different windows...and navigating lines. I cannot remember the last time i saw real lines at betting windows.
