For those of you who still possess memories capable of going back 6 months (that leaves me out)I emailed a missive to the Gaming Commission after last July's Dwyer victory by Firenze Fire and Mr.Servis. Other than various reporting and writings by all the experts in racing I heard nothing from the Gaming Commission or NYRA. Today, out of the blue, I received a call from an investigator employed by the N.Y.Gaming Commission. He apologized when I confirmed I had heard from nobody. On the wagering end he advised me, as had previously been reported, that the late odds change came from last second computer betting and the there was no past posting. On the subject of drug use he would not provide any specific information but advised me-and I believe him-that the Gaming Commission is well aware of the issue, the investigators follow various of the names we have heard on this board and elsewhere (he would not provide any names)and the various steps that are not announced to the public. I advised him that while I respected the fact that law enforcement needed to keep its investigations confidential the Gaming Commission needed to keep the betting public informed as to their diligence. He made a point of advising me that they are in contact with vets and other experts from all over the country to try to keep ahead of the cheaters. I respect the fact that he took the time to call and chat and since various of the posters here were very supportive in July, I thought it appropriate to share. Happy holiday and healthy New Year to all. Richard
