Here is my take: In 2012 and 2013, the Breeder’s Cup outlawed Lasix in 2YO races. All of the Juvenile Turf races were won by Europeans in both years. In fact, those are the only two wins on the filly side. But there is a big difference between last time and this time. In those previous years two-year-olds did race on Lasix during the regular year in the US. This year, none of the two-year-olds have raced on Lasix in the US, so there does not seem to be the same disadvantage there was last time. However most of the juvenile Woodbine horses did have Lasix (Alda did not use it if I remember correctly) so it might be a factor with them, but seems like the playing field is more even this time around. However, the 2YO Euros do not get the purported “First Time Lasix Boost” that they have received in the other years, so maybe their figures don’t jump up as much as they have in the past, but personally I am still allowing for improvement on the TG numbers for those horses.
