Though I am sympathetic to Mr. Hayward's thoughts on this matter, I would suggest that opening with: "My wife, Betsy Senior, had to close her art gallery, and by the end of the month, we had packed up our car and, along with our 18- and 19-year old cats, drove to Saratoga Springs. We have been here ever since, with the occasional trip back to New York City . . ." is not exactly an ideal opening for his argument.
