I have a couple questions for the folks on this board regarding hot sire INTO MISCHIEF. Before last September, my common conception (along with others, I suspect) was that INTO MISCHIEF could not get 10F. Obviously, Mr. Baffert fooled me again and he won not only the Derby but the Breeders Cup as well. My first reaction to this was, "well that's just the Baffert program" and I did not let it change my opinion. However, I find myself reconsidering this notion with INTO MISCHIEF having a couple horses that finished well in a couple of major preps and looming large in this years field.
My questions for the members of this board:
1- Is it wrong for me to have this bias on INTO MISCHIEF as it relates to a 10F race?
2- Is INTO MISCHIEF's recent surge of success a product of a continued watered down American breeding program that has progressively weeded out stamina year over year? With the result being that INTO MISCHIEF offspring have been upgraded due to this regression?
Finally, I know some members might point me to the sire profile of INTO MISCHIEF. While I agree, the profile, on its surface, suggests my assumptions are wrong, however I tend to discount those numbers when while handicapping a 10F race.
Thanks.
