The Breeders Cup races are always tough. Most of the horses who get in have a fighting chance and there’s a greater emphasis on post positions and trips, especially at a tight oval like Del Mar and especially on that turf course. There was some value to be had using the rail horses with tactical speed.

There weren’t too many big surprises outside of Jackie’s Warrior and the 45-1 Japanese bomb. All things considered I was satisfied with the results.

What really shakes my confidence are days like today at Aqueduct. Starting with the 35-1 shot bomb in the second things had to get better but they didn’t. It put me in a hole and I kept on digging. One of the worst days I’ve ever had and it was a Thursday at the big A. It was a nice card just not a good day.
