DMR Breeders Cups - Turf (257 Views)

For some reason this year, I was really struck by how terrible it is conducting BC races, intended to crown the "best" horses, on a turf course with such a short stretch run. Don't know why I didnt notice it more in the prior years, but this year it definitely stood out for me.

Several races where it was perfectly clear several of the horses were just getting going by the time the wire was up, and hard to argue that the "best" horse won several of these races, it was just the one who got first run coming out of the turn. Seems like a poor way to conduct championship races, some of the horses barely got a chance to do any real running.
