That's close, but slightly off... It wasn't Harry M. they were going to honor... It was William Cottrill, the Mobile native and antebellum racing benefactor who had helped finance the rebuilding of the industry after the Civil War..

Harry M. Stevens was British, and started his famed concession biz in Ohio where he had settled after emigrating to the US. He came to NY when he won the Polo Grounds vending contract around the turn of the century...
