Thought the article pointed out the Key to the Keeneland and Turfway conversion. That Key was that "Keeneland" is a business partner in Polytrack:

"The mixture that Nicholson held that day was taken from the training track's newly installed synthetic racing surface called Polytrack, which Keeneland manufactures in a partnership with its English developer, Martin Collins."
Now we know that there are Business Interests involved and that Keeneland's Officers are not at Arms Length in this transaction.

The unconscionable event though was the CHRB requiring all California tracks to install synthetic based in part upon Turfway's claims from one year of operation that injuries were down significantly. The CHRB Board Members say that 227 horses were destroyed "On" their tracks last year. Call me a skeptic, but I seriously doubt 227 horses were put down on the track in California last year. If that figure is accurate as to horse deaths, they are including horses put down in their stalls for all manner of infirmity and horses found dead. Bet theres some Stable Ponies in that figure also. It would be very interesting to learn what Polytrack Interests the CHRB has. Theres something there.

We also learned in this article that Mad Michael Dickenson is receiving royalties for his waxing process from Polytrack. Well what do you know? You cannot have people with Business Interests involved in this debate. They are biased. They are especially biased when theres millions of dollars at stake.

Heres a little tidbit of information for you. The first Polytrack was at Remington Park in Oklahoma. They called their surface Equitrack. It was wax coated much like the latest nonsense and lasted about two years when it began to deteriorate and horses began inhaling it. They didn't get a buzz. They got sick and the surface was removed. Who thinks California's Climate Conditions are significantly different from Oklahoma?

Suits need to be filed to resist the CHRB ruling as it is arbitrary and capricious. Discovery in those suits will reveal they are self interested.

I for one will not bet upon any Poly surface.
