I still use the exper. hcp. as my starting point. I look for horses within 10 lbs. of the highweight. I toss the 2 yo champ and then look for horses that have won certain stakes races either at 2 or 3. (Remsen, Hollywoood Fut, Kentucky JC, Champagne, Florida derby, Blue Grass, Wood ect.)
Then I look at the figures. Usually have my horse in mind in Feb. Finally, the draw (post pos.) and appearance of the horse in Derby post parade. This race has some undeniable stats that must be paid attention to. Right now, I like Repent.
