My guess is White Abbario has a few physical ailments that prevent him from running his A race every time. When those ailments are successfully treated he’s extremely fast. When not, he’s an also ran.
He’s had two trainers, Joseph and Dutrow. Both are capable of treating physical ailments successfully. I wish I had keys to the trunks of their cars. Especially in this weather.
