This is the very thing I was referring to. You refer to me as "insane" and I have to be civil with you. Theres a double standard. I don't think I've directly called anyone names here, but you're also exhibiting the very lack of attention to detail that I was referring to. I apparently have to say something nice about you now. I like your nick.
Rose is about 26 years old and already has two Triple Crown races on his resume. He came close to a Breeders Cup win as well. He's a trememdous physical athlete as his remaining in the saddle in the Preakness amply demonstrates. He saves ground. He's fearless. You can't compare him to the old guys that didn't move up when their opportunity knocked.
Theres something else going on right now. The icons of the saddle are all retiring. Day, Bailey, Stevens, Pincay, Delahoussaye, McCarron. Others are getting old and have lost the edge they once had: Smith, Desormeaux, Solis. Santos, just to name a few. Theres a void and it will need to be filled. The guys you mentioned clearly are not going to fill that void. Jeremy Rose has all the pedigree to fill it and thats the difference. To a great extent he's already there and though it doesn't matter to you. I'd much prefer that "kid" on a horse like SnS than a jock like Desormeaux that hasn't accomplished as much as has been intimated and who pulls bonehead rides and who now obviously can't be trusted.
As I began with I dont' bet Jocks. But theres horses where a clear thinking, quick reflexed jockey are important. I think SnS is such a horse and Desormeaux is a liability. Desormeaux is not making that horse. He could louse him up.
